For me, I’m all about perspective and I feel that Asia’s major role in fashion is to bring out a different perspectives and look into the fashion industry.

Minimal but bold. I live in a tropical country where it is summer all year around. Hence a lot of us tend to look out for clothes that packs a punch without excessive layering.

Instagram. A lot of bloggers post their outfits there and it is a good platform to seek style ideas from.

My name is Lionel Lim, I’m a 19 years old and I am a fashion photographer based in Singapore. Besides doing photography I am also a full time film student from Temasek Polytechnic.

My interest in photography started with my best friend. We would always conduct small little photoshoots together and back at that time I did not know what I was doing at all. Gradually, I realized how creative you can be with photography and fell in love with it.

A lot of people have mentioned that my style of photography is very similar to the European style. Personally I like to keep things simple and let the model be the main focus of the image.

The model behind this shoot is GG. Also known as @plaaastic on the internet. She is a fashion blogger, photographer but most importantly, a hustler. She is someone whom I really look up to a lot. Till today I still can’t believe that I actually got to work with her and it was definitely the highlight of 2016.

For the theme of the shoot I wanted to keep things simple whilst maintaining her signature grungy aesthetic. I didn’t really have to give her much direction as she is a natural at posing in front of the camera.

Usually during my test shoots I would not have a stylist or makeup artist with me. But for this shoot I had a wardrobe stylist involved and had a bunch of clothes that had to be photographed. It definitely was an interesting experience.

As of currently I am working with modeling agencies and doing test shoots for their new faces. I’m really having a lot of fun doing that as I get to meet all sorts of people and work with some of the best faces in Singapore. One thing that I hope can happen in the near future would be that I would love to be on print or be represented by a talent agency.
