When I was working as a journalist it was interesting to discover photography side parallel to journalism. Starting as a photojournalist I soon discovered my passion for fashion photography.
I like to photograph my subjects in a soft manner, bringing out their emotions and personality. However I believe my pictures are mostly emotion driven than personality driven.
The inspiration was driven from mixing up young upcoming designers and their view towards fashion along with the seniors in the industry.
I personally love the shoot for how it has variation in fashion and in scenes. The location had so much variety it was stunning to shoot there.
I think Asia was exposed to the fashion industry later compared to rest of the world. But Asia is full of culture and can shape the industry in it’s own way. That’s what I believe what Asia is going to bring to the fashion industry - the culture and history which is quite unique to Asia.
FASHION, SRI LANKA
As a country with a growing economy, the fashion industry is also shaping up with the global trends very rapidly. There’s a long way for Sri Lanka to go for it to become a fashion destination, but we can see it heading in that direction. More people than ever are conscious about fashion.
Well, the ancient ruins which dates back thousands of years are very inspirational. They were filled with art from a different era.
There are quite a few shoots lined up, parallel to colombo fashion week. Most exciting plan for the future would be to travel the world in summer and take pictures of most beautiful women and most talented fashion designs.
I believe in myself as an artist. So I’d love to focus on my work to be memorable for generations to come.
Life isn’t fair. The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.
