My interest in photography started to breed in my college era. I went to this photography class once in a week. There was where I started to learn the basic of photography and how to manually control my camera. Before I step into this career, I took 2 months to do backpacking around South East Asia. Where I went, I take photos; Where I stopped, I take photos. My camera been witnessed the beauty of Mother Nature with me. After the 2months trip, I decided to fully focus in photography instead of doing design.
I’m a visual storyteller. My pictures capture story in a painting way. You have to talk to the people and understand how’s the concept goes and how you gonna draw their story in your picture.
貳零壹柒 means 2017 in Chinese. It’s a shoot that combining oriental with edgy high fashion’s wardrobes. Which shows the contrast between western and eastern yet the harmony of balancing these two styles.
During this shoot, I kept adding strange props on to the model. It literally confused the team but eventually the pictures turned out really good with those props. I might say it complete the whole story/picture. Thanks to the team for such great work on this shooting. Everything is just on point. They the greatest team I ever work with.
Culture. For my own opinion, culture plays a vital role in Asian’s daily life so does in photography. Each of the country in Asia has very distinctive culture and history of their own. Everything in our life is pooled with culture. Works, News, Networks, Foods, Technology, Education, Family and Friends. It’s an invisible system that has been builded into Asian.
To be frank that fashion scene in my country is remaining cliche. I can hardly find a primitive fashion brand in Malaysia even some of them acknowledged that they are. But in fact, we’ve seen the same concept and design few months ago from the other country. It’s kind a sad that people in our country is acting fuddy-duddy to fashion. Their fashion inspiration always come from those famous influencer from social media instead of wearing the style that fits them well.
This is a very subjective question tho. Different kind of personal get inspired at different places. For me, I love to travel around to get for inspiration. You will never get to see different things and hear different stories if you’re being stationed at one spot.
I would like to explore more direction in fashion photography. In fact, I’ve started to work on some fashion videos in terms of directing and video shooting. Hopefully it helps on bringing my career into another stage in photography.
